I’ve been a web designer since the mid 90’s and at the beginning; most of my clients had their own products that they wanted to sell online. So they would come to me to set up their web site.

So the issue isn’t the web site, or what to sell… it’s how to get people to your web site. It’s funny because in the past, that was the easy part. Just setup a site, and submit it to the major search engines. In a little while, traffic would just start coming.
Then Google started the Adwords program. I would start an Adwords campaign and get traffic to my sites for about 5¢ a click. It’s not like that now. That visitor that I paid just a nickel for back in the 90’s now cost over a dollar! Think about it. 100 visitors to my site used to cost 5 dollars, now it cost over 100 dollars!
